Knorr-Bremse stops pursuing the acquisition of a shareholdering in HELLA

Today, the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse AG decided to stop pursuing a potential acquisition of a majority stake in HELLA GmbH & Co. KGaA. Following careful analysis, the Executive Board determined that the possible transfer of key technologies and products to its own product portfolio would not result in the realization of the expected synergies.

Knorr-Bremse invites students to a virtual Girls Day

In keeping with a tradition dating back to 2002 Knorr-Bremse will be part of a Germany-wide Girls Day offering schoolgirls grades 5 and up a chance to try their hand at a technical career. Taking “Career guidance 4.0” as its theme, Girls Day will be held across the nation on April 22, 2021. The annual event is aimed at breaking down the gender stereotypes surrounding certain careers.

Major award for brake and air treatment systems: Knorr-Bremse and one of the world’s leading global truck OEMs have signed a 10-year supply contract to continue their long-term partnership

  • Contract with one of the world’s leading global truck OEMs extended to cover serial deliveries of current braking system and air treatment systems
  • New supply contract signed for new generation of braking- and air treatment systems utilizing next-generation technology developed by Knorr-Bremse: GSBC, the Global Scalable Brake Control system and GSAT, the Global Scalable Air Treatment system
  • Order volume over full contract period worth approx. 1 billion euros

Knorr-Bremse have signed a continuation of their current supply agreement in the field of braking systems and air treatment systems for the OEM’s European heavy-duty and medium-duty platforms. At the same time the parties signed a new contract for multi-year supplies of the new GSBC (Global Scalable Brake Control) and GSAT (Global Scalable Air Treatment) technologies currently under development. This business award underpins Knorr-Bremse’s market position in the braking systems and air treatment segment in Europe, illustrating that the company’s high investment in new technologies is gaining ground in the market.

At the virtual German Brand Awards ceremony on June 10, 2021, Knorr-Bremse was presented with the Gold award in the “Excellent Brands – Transport & Mobility” category. German Brand Awards are presented every year by the German Design Council and German Brand Institute in recognition of successful brands, consistent brand management and long-term brand communication. This year’s awards ceremony was the sixth in succession.

Knorr-Bremse AG achieves outstanding results in the first quarter of 2021

  • Very positive business performance in the first quarter of 2021
  • In Q1 2021, order intake rises for the third time in a row and improves by 13.3% to EUR 1.80 billion (previous year: EUR 1.59 billion)
  • Order book at record level: Increase of EUR 432 million (+9.3%) compared to the previous year (EUR 4.65 billion) to EUR 5.08 billion
  • Revenues grow by 3.9% to EUR 1.69 billion compared to Q1 2020
  • Major increase in profitability: EBITDA margin increases to 18.9% (previous year: 17.8%) and EBIT margin to 14.9% (previous year: 13.8%), each having improved by 110 basis points
  • Knorr-Bremse considers itself on track for full year 2021 and confirms its guidance

Climate Strategy 2030: Knorr-Bremse drives forward extensive climate action measures

  • Key milestone en route to carbon neutrality from 2021: CO2 emissions reduced by 59 percent in 2020
  • Investment in in-house energy generation from renewables and energy efficiency measures
  • Knorr-Bremse concludes agreement with climate protection organization atmosfair gGmbH to offset 40,000 tonnes of CO2 per year

Knorr-Bremse , is driving forward its climate action measures in the context of its new Climate Strategy 2030. By setting its climate goals, Knorr-Bremse is contributing to the Paris Climate Agreement to limit global heating to 1.5 degrees and aiming to halve its CO2 emissions by 2030.

This 50 percent reduction is to be achieved through energy efficiency measures and the own-generation and purchase of renewable energy. In addition, Knorr-Bremse has pledged to make its own sites carbon neutral from 2021 onwards. To do so, the Group is to maximize its sourcing of energy from renewables, while residual, unavoidable emissions are to be offset by means of high-quality climate protection certificates. For the purpose of offsetting, Knorr-Bremse has signed a cooperation agreement with climate protection organization atmosfair gGmbH.
